What do you think of our leisure services? Have your say and be in with the chance of winning £50!

Our Sports and Leisure Customer Satisfaction Survey is now live, and we want your views on how we are performing.

What do you think about our staff? How are our facilities at Clay Cross, Eckington, Killamarsh and Dronfield? Do we offer good value for money?

Cllr Kathy Rouse, Cabinet member for Leisure, said: “Your views are important to us, as they help us to shape the services we provide.

“The survey is quick and easy to complete, and you could win a £50 voucher for your trouble.”

The survey is open from 19 October, until 1 November 2026.

You can fill it in online or pick up a paper copy from our leisure centres.

Everyone who fills in the survey* will have the chance of winning a £50 Amazon voucher.

New-look 3G pitch opens at Killamarsh Active

Footballers can now take their game to the next level, following the re-opening of the upgraded 3G pitch at Killamarsh Active.

The pitch has been transformed following £125,148 of capital funding from North East Derbyshire District Council, supported by a £25,000 grant from the Premier League, The Football Association and Government’s Football Foundation.

The newly resurfaced area, which utilises the latest in Lano Surfacing artificial turf, means it now meets FA performance standards, bookings available include 3v3, 5v5 and 7v7 footbal

Councillor Kathy Rouse, North East Derbyshire District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Health and Leisure, said: “This is fantastic news for all the clubs, schools, community groups and individuals who value having a high-quality pitch to play on.

“It also demonstrates our commitment to investing in our leisure facilities for the benefit of all our residents.”

Robert Sullivan, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “The Football Foundation is working closely with our partners – the Premier League, The FA and Government – to transform the quality of grassroots facilities in England by delivering projects like this across the country.

“Good quality playing facilities have a transformative impact on physical and mental health and play an important role in bringing people together and strengthening local communities.

“We’re delighted that the local community in North East Derbyshire will now be able to enjoy all these benefits thanks to the upgraded facilities at Killamarsh Active.”

We currently have spaces available for weekend fixtures, if any clubs are interested in booking a slot.

National Fitness Day success

Our leisure centres were a buzz of activity on National Fitness Day (16 Sept), with dozens of residents joining in the fun.

A range of sessions took place at all four of our leisure centres in Clay Cross, Dronfield, Eckington and Killamarsh including: Mega Chairobics, Big Workout sessions and Fitness Bingo.

We also had offers on our smoothies and a special one day only membership deal.

Our Chair, Cllr Michael Durrant and Council Leader Cllr Nigel Barker joined in by taking part in fitness bingo – a series of fitness challenges with participants entered into a prize draw to win a month’s free membership for them and a friend.

Money raised on the day went to the Chair’s Charity in aid of Autism East Midlands.

Cllr Durrant, who has autism and ADHD, said: “It was great to see so many people participating in these activities and finding out more about my chosen charity, which does some amazing work to support autistic individuals, their families and carers.

“I know from personal experience how difficult it is living with autism and what a fantastic charity this is to raise money and awareness for.”
