Dronfield Active Pool Closure Monday 25 November 2024 – Sunday 5 January 2025
Please note that the swimming pools at Dronfield Active will be closed for essential maintenance from Monday 25 November 2024 to Sunday 5 January 2025 inclusive.
It’s nine years since the pool was last refurbished so a closure is necessary to allow a scheme of work both on the poolside & in the plant room.
On the poolside:
- The pools will be drained, the tanks checked for wear, the liner and markings will be repainted.
- The edging strip & the section between the pool edge & the overflow channel will be replaced.
- The overflow channel grates will be replaced.
- New pool covers will be installed.
- Triple glazing units will be installed on the external windows.
- The Poolside and Village Changing Room will be redecorated.
In the Plant Room:
- The filter sand & collection laterals in the bottom of the filters will be replaced. This will stop sand getting into the pool.
- Variable speed filtration will be installed.
New pool covers and variable speed filtration are both energy saving measures funded by the Government’s Swimming Pool Support Fund Grant secured earlier in the year.
The work will be carried out at the quietest time of year to cause minimum disruption to swimmers and our pool at Eckington remains open for anyone wanting to swim.
For those on swimming lessons or with swimming memberships the following applies:
Swimming lessons:
- Will be cancelled for the 6-week period. There is already a two-week Christmas break factored into the monthly direct debit (DD) price so the December DD will not be taken to account for the remaining four weeks.
Memberships
- A Flex 1 Swim only member can convert to Flex 1 Gym only or Flex 1 Class only membership at reception no later than 20 November 2024.
- A Flex 1 Swim only member who wants to keep their membership running so they can swim at Eckington Active must email dronfieldactive@ne-derbyshire.gov.uk no later than 20 November 2024.
- Anyone on a Flex 1 Swim only membership who doesn’t make contact by 20 November 2024 will automatically have their membership frozen. No DD payment will be taken in December and a 50% reduction will be applied to January’s payment to account for the 6-week pool closure. These members will not be able to use their Flex 1 Swim only membership at any other site during the period 25 November 2024 to 5 January 2025 inclusive.
- Other type of memberships (Unlimited, Corporate, Flex 2 etc) won’t automatically have their payments stopped as their memberships cover other areas e.g. the gym, classes etc. but can apply to freeze their entire membership if they want to via reception no later than 20 November 2024.
- Members who purchase monthly Supersaver memberships at reception have the flexibility to time their purchase to avoid the pool closure if they only want to use it to access the swimming pool at Dronfield Active.
