Junior Gym Admissions Policy

All junior users must have completed an induction prior to attending any casual gym session.

Junior usage will only be permitted when either:

  • A qualified, council approved instructor is in attendance.
  • A junior is accompanied by a responsible adult who must be an inducted member over 16 years of age.

Ideally the attendance should involve both of the above.

An adult member will be allowed to supervise up to a maximum of 2 x juniors 13-14 years or 1 x junior less than 13 years, unless the responsible person is satisfied the council’s required standards of safety can be maintained. This will be determined by assessment of circumstances at the time of the request.

Juniors will be restricted to using only suitable equipment, e.g. based on size of the individual relative to the equipment.

Juniors must not be left unsupervised once admission to Fitness Suite has been made. If, for any reason, they need to be left unattended, temporary alternative arrangements must be the satisfaction of the instructor or responsible person.

Guidance notes on age & capability issued at the time of induction must be observed by juniors and compliance ensured by the instructor and/or responsible adult.

The responsible person/instructor will be the person who decides whether equipment used, type of exercise, method of exercise or time spent on exercise is acceptable & safe. Adults accompanying juniors will be expected to comply with instructions given by either of these people.

The council, through its staff, reserve the right to refuse or revoke admission to the Fitness Suite if the facility is not being used by either adults or juniors in accordance with the Council’s membership conditions.
