Our four leisure centres are home to a range of leisure activities suitable for all ages, because we believe everyone should be given the opportunity to enjoy moving more.
Leisure services play a key role in meeting the council’s corporate priorities, with particular emphasis on supporting ambitions in sport and physical activity, health
improvement, social inclusion, regeneration and community safety.
The overarching aim of the service is to raise the level of participation in sport, leisure, active recreation and social interaction through offering quality leisure facilities and services that are equally accessible to all.
Over £29m has been invested in our leisure facilities over recent years. A key improvement has been our commitment to carbon reduction through funded projects at Dronfield and Eckington. As a result, Eckington has seen a 66% reduction in carbon emissions and Dronfield is now 100% electric.
In addition to the above, leisure services make a considerable contribution to helping resolve important national and local issues, such as:
